Yesterday evening in the library, some lady goes up to the two guys sitting at the computers nearest me, and asks if they are maths students. They say yes, and she asks if they are first years, and when they reply yes, she starts to say something then suddenly turns to me and demands if I am a maths student and a first year. Once I explain that I'm on year three of four (it's always so awkward, since I'm not a second year but I'm not a third, either), she asks if I know how to copy over the text of an email that she sent to the wrong address so she can subsequently send it to the next one. I demonstrate briefly by highlighting the text on notalwaysright and right clicking, but she asks if I can come show her at her computer. As I follow her over, she asks me if I'm from Australia (I get that a lot actually, it's weird). I copy and paste the text for her, then retreat to my computer. I asked the two guys if they thought it was weird, and they told me that she's crazy and is always in the library asking people weird things. She came back over ten minutes later to ask me if "with regards to" or "regarding" sounded better for a professional email. Apparently you need to be a maths student to know how to copy and paste, and how to write emails.
We went to Hayfields last night for karaoke, but it wasn't quite set up when we got there, so we ended up playing pool a bit, and a version of Clue that was actually trivia (it was really messed up; I guess some girls were playing the 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire' after we stopped, and they got out by saying that the minimum time one could get for a hockey penalty is ten minutes). Karaoke was really fun once it started up- Caitlin, HIlary and I did Dancing Queen, and Caitlin and I also did Video Killed the Radio Star, which was very fun. Also, everyone joined in on things like Living on a Prayer.
Today, Hilary filmed me doing party of my audition tape near the Houses of Parliament; two people rode by our spot on bikes, and the guy started ringing his bell in time with the music, it was really fun. Caitlin met up with us, and the three of us went to the Tate Britain and looked at many pretty paintings (after stopping at a cute cafe with yummmmy food, and a waiter who had stayed in Las Vegas for a while and got talking to Hilary about that; we decided the little cafe must be doing pretty well for itself if he can just extend his vacation as long as he wants and drop six hundred bucks for the best seat to Cirque de Soleil).
Getting to Westminster and Pimlico and back to Mile End was so obnoxious because of all of the line closures. It would be sort've nice if our weekend plans weren't made infinitely more difficult by having to maneouvre around all of the closed lines- especially the District, which goes through Mile End but is ALWAYS closed on weekends from Upminster to Embankment.
Anywho, we finally got HIlary out to Brick Lane for dinner, then successfully found the 24 hour "Beigle" shop (a little girl was in there in her slippers buying a donut, she was adorable), and then went to Cookies and Cream, where I got ice cream. The majority of our conversation for at least three hours was this game Kevin taught us, where you name a famous personnage, such as "Orlando Bloom," then the next person has to name someone whose name begins with a B, such as "Barney Rubble." If anyone says a double letter, for example "Rowena Ravenclaw," it reverses. Hilary and I had a pretty epic string of double Ps working for a while, though neither of us came up with Peter Pan, surprisingly.
